The Curriculums for Your Child’s Success
WebABLLs: Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS-R)
Serving as an assessment tool, skills-tracking system and guide, ABLLS-R, also referred to as WebABLLs, is relied by therapists to effectively and efficiently train children with developmental disabilities, (such as ASD - Autism Spectrum Disorder) in their journey to better manage their symptoms.
The components of WebABLLs are able to help Children with Autism develop the following sets of skills:
Language (Communication)
Social Interaction
Self-help (Basic Living Skills)
Academic Performance
Motor Skills
There are over 500 skills to be assessed across the above modules, with each skill taught in ascending complexity to ensure children are taught in a progressive and effective manner.
Through the assessment, parents and therapists can identify the challenges that their child faces. In doing so, a suitable program can then be tailored and designed to teach children the specific individualised skills they may be lacking to achieve success.
Key Features and Functions of WebABLLS:
Assessment
WebABLLS offers a systematic way to assess a child's skills across various domains of development. These domains include receptive language, expressive language, social interaction, self-help, academic skills, and motor skills. The assessment is conducted through a series of detailed tasks and criteria.
Individualised Planning
After the assessment is complete, WebABLLS generates individualized curriculum goals and objectives based on the child's strengths and areas for improvement. These goals are tailored to the child's specific needs and abilities.
Progress Tracking
Professionals and caregivers can use WebABLLS to track a child's progress over time. This feature helps in measuring the effectiveness of interventions and making necessary adjustments to the curriculum.
Data Collection
The platform provides tools for collecting data on a child's performance on each skill or task. This data is essential for monitoring progress and making data-driven decisions.
Customisation
WebABLLS allows for the customization of goals and objectives to align with the child's unique needs and the priorities set by their caregivers or educational team.
Reporting
Users can generate reports summarising a child's progress, which can be shared with parents, educators, and other team members involved in the child's care.
CentralReach: Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS)
The AFLS is a tool that helps therapists, parents and caretakers assess and keep track of important skills needed for their child to develop stronger independence.
Similar to the WebABLLs, we can see what skills the child possesses and track their improvement over time. The AFLS covers lots of skills that are important for being part of a family, doing well in school, fitting in with the community, and even succeeding at work.
Here’s where the AFLS and WebABLLs differ most:
While WebABLLs largely focuses on teaching language and basic learning skills to children with developmental delays, the curriculum does not cover much on skills to help children live more independently.
On the contrary, AFLS are curriculums that emphasises on the development of functional living skills to train older children to achieve independence. Hence, the AFLs are recommended as the curriculum to prepare older kids with a lifetime of functional skills.
Both the AFLS and WebABLLs can be conducted simultaneously to maximise your child’s development.
Early Intervention is Key
Development of these skills at an early age has been proven to empower children with a significantly greater chance of enrolling mainstream school. In a typically developing child, they will have acquired these skills before entering Kindergarten.
